Dry or wet, rain or snow, sunny or cloudy, sump pumps evacuate water all year long. Captured this one going off every 41 seconds (pump turns off at 3 seconds in video, turns back on at 44).
In a downpour it will do this for hours, take 24 hours to slow down to a few times per hour, and a week to slow down to just a couple times a night.
During winter snowmelt, it will start a couple of days after the snow is gone and then evacuate up to six times at night for days in a row.
After weeks of silence and hot, dry weather, it will suddenly start evacuating water for a couple days for no reason at all.
Can’t be good for the foundation. But is worse for trying to get some sleep!
